History
Palmela, a land of contrasts, the Palmela municipality stretches for 460 square kilometres, from the Arrábida Natural Park to the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve.  Most of this region’s history is deeply connected to vineyards and wine. The wine culture has been present here since the beginning of time, due to the region fulfilling the proper soil and climatic conditions to produce a great variety of wines.
The village of Palmela, which received its first charter in 1185 (granted by King Afonso Henriques), was already frequently cited due to the region’s vineyards and wine, thereby affirming its importance and notoriety. Located in Quinta do Anjo, at the foot of the Louro mountain range, Venâncio da Costa Lima is one of the area’s oldest companies. A village with strong rural traditions,
Quinta do Anjo is known as a land of good cheese, bread and wine. Here, wine is a great excuse to get to know traditional people, knowledge and flavours. Most of the producers of the famous Azeitão cheese, a product of unequalled speciality, are based in this village, as are the producers of the superb goat’s butter. Homemade bread baked in wood-fired ovens is also made here; very popular and ideal to accompany the famous cheese.
Land of flavours and delicacies, this region is undeniably a pleasure for the palate!

Venâncio da Costa Lima is one of the oldest wineries in the Palmela region, beginning its activity in 1914. Still a family business, this winery is already in its fourth generation. As a producer of Table Wines,
