Description

Trás-os-Montes region is also famous for its cheeses, predominantly made with sheep or goat milk that have unique, truly distinctive characteristics and delicious flavours.

DOP Transmontano Goat Cheese is an extra hard cheese that has stronger and intense taste notes, owing to its 18 month maturation process.
It is made with goat milk Serrana breed of semi-hard crust, strong and pleasant aroma, and a whitish paste with some eyes. Its flavour offers a slightly bitter spicy.
Periodically the cheeses are washed, dried and turned during maturation, so say these may be eaten with the peel.
Both Terrincho and the Transmontano Goat DOP cheeses are produced exclusively in Trás-os-Montes region – and only in some selected areas - where there are prime examples of the excellence of cheese-making and wonderful dairy products, not to be missed.
