Description

Artisanal Sea Salt maintains all the natural elements that compose it (more than 80).

Marnoto, Sea Salt Flower is not just a seasoning, it is a rich source of nutrients and minerals.

In this salt from traditional salt works, it is possible to find minerals such as sodium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, among many others. Sodium helps balance fluids in our bodies and is necessary for proper muscle contraction. Potassium helps maintain a steady heartbeat and aids in the transmission of nerve impulses. Phosphorus and calcium are crucial for the development and protection of our bone structure.

Because it is 100% Natural and Unrefined, Marnoto Traditional Sea Salt maintains all these minerals!

Normally, the beneficial elements of the salt we use every day, the so-called industrial salt, are removed during the industrialization process and other artificial elements are added that do not benefit our health in any way.

Did you know that not all salt is the same? Salt has a magnificent taste and bouquet of flavors.

In addition to sodium chloride, which makes up 96% of this traditional sea salt and gives it its salty flavor, there are also 4% of other minerals.

Discover the sea taste of traces of iodine and calcium, the bitter aftertaste of magnesium and the spicy character of potassium in this salt.

Produced all year round between May and September, in the Salinas da Ria Formosa, in the Algarve, this organic salt is pure, high-quality salt.

Human work and knowledge, combined with the climate conditions in the south of our country, have a great influence on the flavor and result of these delicate crystals, where all the minerals and nutritional value can be noted.

In fact, what is the reason for using salt that has been refined, having its natural elements that are important for health removed? The "fine grain" of salt is generally used in salads, ready-made or grilled dishes, giving them a refined final touch, fine-tuning the seasoning, nutritionally replacing the use of processed salt.

Sea Salt Flower makes an excellent seasoning when mixed with herbs and dried citrus zest, or piri-piri.

Artisanal Salt and Sea Salt Flower from Ria Formosa are certified DOP products and have won awards for consecutive years.

Sea salt, History

Salt extraction in Portugal dates back to the time of the Phoenicians in the 9th century, where the harvesting method was very similar to the current one. The length of the Portuguese coast exposed to winds and sun has always been favorable to salt exploration and the development of salt flats. A privileged geographical location compared to other European or even non-European countries.

Along the Sado, near Lisbon, there were more than 400 salt pans that served as a commercial exchange between Portugal and the countries of northern Europe, which were heavily dependent on this product for preserving fish and meat.

In the 12th century, even before the discoveries, Portuguese salt was already a high-quality product and played a leading role in the Portuguese economy, with the Ria de Aveiro salt mine and its natural lagoon thriving. Today, there are around ten well-preserved salt mines. The best known are the Salt Pans of Aveiro, Figueira da Foz, Ria Formosa (Tavira-Algarve), Castro Marim and the Salt Pans of Salgema in Rio Maior.
