Favaios is one of the best national MOSCATEL DOC. This classic is the youngest Moscatel that Adega de Favaios sells, but it is also the one that has been produced for the longest time, practically since the company was founded.
It is vinified in the traditional way, in intense skin maceration, in order to extract as much as possible the aromatic components so characteristic of this grape variety. This contact with the skins lasts for 3 or 4 days until the moment when the fermentation must be interrupted with the addition of wine spirit. This mixture of partially fermented must and brandy then goes through a 3-year aging process, gaining harmony and complexity until the moment of making the batch that can be enjoyed by consumers.
TASTING NOTES It has a clear and shiny appearance with an appealing golden colour. Favaios is marked by the typical aromas of the muscatel variety, extremely rich and aromatic. In the tasting, the aromas of the variety stand out, highlighting the floral notes, citrus fruits such as orange, tangerine and lime, as well as honey and caramel. The taste is quite sweet and velvety, reminiscent of honey and fruit compotes.
