History
Moscatel or Muscat is one of the oldest and most famous fortified wines in the world. An eastern Mediterranean grape that was introduced in the Iberian Peninsula by the Romans. Its distinctive aroma is really easy to recognise.
Moscatel de Favaios in Douro resurfaced in the 50s, a region that was an ancient Roman settlement and kept a corrupted form of the historical founder's name of this town, "Flavius".
